IA GARCIA EDUCATIONAL FUND DRIVE CONCLUDES
WE CARE FUND CAMPAIGN USA
The We Care fund campaign officially concluded on May 10, 2001 with the turnover of the funds raised for the educational fund of the daughter of the late brod Jun Garcia '83. In ceremonies and dinner held at the home of Charlie Gatmaitan '83, members of Batch '83 turned over funds raised by Brods and Sis in North America and in the Philippines to Jun's widow, Mrs. Adore Garcia and her daughter, Ia.
Mrs. Garcia read an emotional speech and thank you letter to the Brods and Sis and presented Batch 83 with a CD containing Jun's favorite songs. Present during the ceremonies were Jun's batchmates, Joey Villa (batch leader - Diliman), Albert Ocampo (batch leader - Los Banos), Charlie Gatmaitan, Mike Liamzon, Arnon Rivera, Joel Viado, Gigoy Tayao, Norman Hocson, Gilbert Larson and Jesse Enriquez.
Jun Garcia '83 died in 1998 after a gallant fight with cancer. In his memory, his batchmates Gigoy Tayao, Albert Ocampo and Phil Vega organized the We Care campaign to solicit donations to establish an educational trust fund for his daughter Ia. Batchmate Ricky Rionda aided their efforts in the United States by soliciting donations from Upsilon Sigma Phi and Sigma Delta Phi alumni based overseas.
On behalf of the family of the late Jun Garcia '83, Batch 83 wishes to thank all the donors for their generous contributions.
