Web Team Standards

The overriding principle is "Keep it Simple". The Web Standards are an extension of the Design Philosophies. They are constantly evolving and will contribute to a consistent look and feel of the Upsilon Web Site.

Image files will be kept in the subdirectory /images on www.upsilon.com.
Sound files will be kept in the subdirectory /sounds.
This will be the start of a Web Team Toolkit. When we progress to style sheets, cgi/perl scripts, javascripts we will be creating similar libraries.

Use the ALT alternate text image property and/or text links at the bottom of the image so that customers can still navigate even if they are unable to see the graphics.

Page navigation will be assisted by always placing a TOP (if it is more than one viewing page) and BACK to Previous page links.
Pages will only be three (3) levels deep. For example, A -> B -> C. The customer will be led forward and backwards and should not be made to lose orientation.

On at least on the first page, an Author and Last Modified Date must be displayed so that our customer can decide whether to continue or not.

File sizes will be kept small to keep download times as short as possible.

The <bgsound> and <embed> tags for sound files will be placed at the bottom of the page, so that it is the last to load. This allows the customer to see the page quicker.

Broken links will be removed. If you want your link to be restored, please email the webmaster@upsilon.com.
