No rain can stop the fun. If you can name 7 other brods, husbands and wives in this picture other than those in the foreground, we will give you a free “one-way” ticket to fly to Toronto. Tip – International dance pianist Toots Paragas-Evidente’69 is not in the picture. She tried hard to catch the red eye flight the day before from Banff, Alberta where she has been featured dance pianist at the internationally renowned Banff Summer Arts Festival for the last 25 years, so that she could be at the picnic. Toots, in 2004 tatanda-an namin to schedule the picnic after you get back from Banff.

OK ladies, spit it out! Those mischievous grins tell the tale. You can bet they are swapping “trade” secrets about whom else but the brods of course. From Left: Mel Malvar, Linda Ilag, Tess Concepcion, Agnes Cruz, Helen Palacios, Leah Gonzalez-Cruz’70 and Cel de Asis.

May tinatago pala itong si Julius. Pinahirapan ni Consul Julius Torres’72 si Canadian Master Bobby Palacios’66 (chess rating 2300) with his last gambit in a stunning upset. You can see na-namimilipit si Bobby with time running out, while Chapter President Eddie Lee and “meron” watches the tense moment. The Toronto brods taking a strong stand on Kikogate. You can clearly see how divided they are between “for” and “against” as evidenced by the lines or rather receding hairlines. From left: Aurelio “Jun” Mejia’61, Rogie Concepcion’66, Bobby Palacios’66, Eddie Lee’53, Arce Malvar’73, Del “Jun” Cruz’69, Pepe Buenavides’69, picnic organizer Rudy “Boy” Ilag’67 (wimping out with an umbrella), Ruben Cusipag’57, Julius Torres’72, Noel Cruz’66, picnic co-organizer Ferdie de Asis’77, and Josie Natividad’57.

Who was it who said: let us distinquish(sic) between an ass and a face?…. I know these funny Canadians will always come up with something like this”, Gene Bueno, Upsilon List, August 14, 2003. The “probinsiano” (to the American brods) Toronto based Upsilonians have a great Canadian peacekeeping tradition to uphold as soon as they are able to figure out the(ir) asses from the(ir) faces.

A frontal view of Toronto’s assault team composed of Upsilon wives and Sigma Deltans. Toots Paragas-Evidente’69, not in picture, has still not forgiven organizer Rudy “Boy” Ilag for failing to move the picnic the next day so she could join the fun from her Banff (Alberta) Music Festival performance.
