Raphael “Timmy” Chua ‘02 took home the bronze medal in the men’s 100m breast finals of the 23rd Southeast Asian Games at the Trace Aquatics Center in Los Banos last November 30. Chua came out strong in the first 50 meters of the event while battling 2003 SEA Games silver winner Vorrawuti Aumpiwan of Thailand. But Vietnam’s Huu Viet Nguyen came surging from the eighth lane to take the gold. Nguyen, bronze winner in 2003, clocked 1:03.80 for the gold, followed by Aumpiwan who timed 1:04.01, while Chua came in at 1:04.35. Congratulations brod!

The Upsilon Sigma Phi Alumni Association - North America (USPNA) donated US$1,000.00 to the Philippine Collegian office renovation fund. A check for fifty-five thousand pesos was turned over by former USPNA chairman Antonio “Slats” Donesa ‘52 (third from left) to Philippine Collegian editor in chief Juan Paolo E. Colet ‘04 (center) during simple ceremonies at the Hotel Intercontinental Manila last November 3. Also in the photo are USPAA board members Francisco “Jun” Aniag ‘66, Nazario S.
